Early Christmas Present

Zac and I decided that since the crummy economy is keeping us in our house many years longer than expected, we would FINALLY re-do the fireplace that has bothered us since day one. The previous owners upgraded the counters for the kitchen, bathrooms, etc. But, they left this ugly tile. It also didn't help that my nesting doesn't involve maticulous cleaning, but expensive house upgrades (with Luke, painting the house and new carpet). :) We are so happy that we finally got around to doing this, it makes a world of difference! In a room we spend the majority of our time, it makes it even more enjoyable.

The ugly white 4 inch tiles with huge grout lines....Bye, bye! We don't miss you!
Day one, removal of the ugly tile. Actually looks better already!

New tile in and setting overnight.

New mantle, tile has been grouted, waiting for stuff to dry.

All done!!!! Yay!

Decorated for Christmas. Finally able to hang our stockings for once. :)

Luke's first Christmas tree (we were in Hawaii visiting Kathrine's family for his first Christmas). Pictures don't do it justice.
