Today was my first day off for maternity leave. Although I do miss being at school, my coworkers and students....I really enjoy being home with Luke. We have had a productive day today, went grocery shopping at our favorite place: Trader Joes. I honestly cannot remember the last time I went shopping at a "regular" grocery store. Perhaps just for something they didn't/don't carry or something specific I was looking for. Luke has become quite the helper when we grocery shop. I tell him what we are buying and he puts it in the cart for me. We both enjoy our special time together.
Later, we went out to an impromptu lunch with Zac. Zac had a dentist appointment this morning and it went much longer than expected, so he ended up working from home.
After the lunch date with my two boys, I went and met a friend for some hot chocolate at Starbucks. We had a great time catching up and talking. Vanessa and I met during our credential program and have maintained our friendship. She is a wonderful friend who has been there to support me through some ups and downs. And, she has the two of the cutest kids you will ever see. Her daughter, Hailey is adorable. Her son, Michael is the happiest kid I've ever met! He smiles all the time! So cute! It was great to catch up and chat.
When I came home, Zac and Luke were bonding. Luke decided he wanted to ride his tricycle that he got for Christmas. So, Zac was showing him how to use the pedals. Luke ALMOST has it! I know by the end of summer, he will be able to peddle around the house, backyard and park like crazy! I can't wait to see him accomplish that task. It truly is amazing how fast children grow up! You never really understand until you have one yourself. (Just like you don't really understand/know how amazing the love you feel for them is. Children really do make your life exponentially better!)
Of course, in between all of that, I did a few errands and chores around the house. Now....I'm just waiting for the "nesting" to kick in. It never really did with Luke. :)
