Sorry this has taken so long to be published...We have been busy! Zac has had two trips back to Washington DC for work (week long ones at that) and with the end of the year winding down for me at work, life has been crazy!
This year, we decided that Luke was old enough to have a party just like his friends at daycare to have a party! One that he could actually enjoy and one that he actually requested! "I want party at park, with (wif) friends and cake." It was really quite sweet and wonderful to see him get excited about his party (especially after one of his friends, Ashlyn had her party the weekend before), he was eagerly anticipating the party and every day asked if today was the day for his party at the park. We decided that the party should be at Sea Canyon Park (the park just a few houses down from where I grew up in Dana Point), it is a great park and we knew it had the space, tables and it would be quiet. The park where we live now is great, it is just always busy! This park made it feel like it was just ours.
A friend of mine had a party earlier in the month and posted some very cute decorations. Being that I am not crafty or creative, I decided I would use some of the items I was thinking of using as party favors, and see if the person who did her party items could come up with something for me....boy she did! The items were so cute and I was really happy! Of course, I was so busy enjoying the party, that I forgot to take pictures of everything.
The day of the party, we got there an hour early (which was fine with Luke because he was able to play), set up and with the help of my Mom and Zac's parents, we set up without a hitch and the boys were able to play. As each one of Luke's friends showed up, he became more excited. It was really precious and I know he had a great time. The party was scheduled based off of the majority of his friends' sleep schedules, since most of them are at the same daycare, they all have the same 1pm nap time. So, it basically was a little playing, a little eating and a lot of fun on a beautiful day.
Enjoy some of the (few) pictures that we were able to capture. (in no particular order)
Water bottle covers, so cute!
Luke practicing his golf swing with his Papa...with the new clubs he got for his birthday.
Opening some presents.
Unfortunately, we didn't get a front view picture of the banner, it was cute and simply said, "Happy Birthday Luke"
Playing with more presents with Nana.
His very own birthday cake that he got to blow out the candles. (And, try out the frosting with his friend David beforehand...they caught in a little sneak taste.) The cupcakes had cute toppers that we personalized for his party as well.
The kids flying one of the party favors kites with one of the dads.
Luke and Zac taking a view from above.
Playing with bubbles.
Friends.
Ryan fell asleep on Nana.
Kathrine's parents...Vicki (Grandma), Carolyn (Grandma) and Bill (Grandpa/Papa depending on the day for Luke.)
More friends.
