The original plan for Ryan's birthday was to go to Disneyland...But, of course, Mother Nature had different plans and brought us rain. So, as a spur-of-the-moment idea, we decided to head up to Big Bear to have fun in the snow! Although both boys have had the opportunity to experience snow before, they had never been in falling snow, which is a different experience all together!
We started off our day having breakfast at one of our favorite breakfast places, The Original Pancake House. We met the grandparents there and had a birthday breakfast! We all had great fun. After that, we hopped back into the car and headed up to Big Bear. It was such a great idea and we had an absolute blast! It was a fantastic weekend and we wished it didn't come to an end!
It is amazing that our littlest dude is already one! He has grown so fast and until he starts walking full-time, I am going to say he is my baby. :) Enjoy the pics!
Ryan woke up in the morning to play with his first toy from his Uncle Lane and Aunt Mandy! He loved it!
Luke waiting for his pancake breakfast by doing a little art and a pirate face.
Ryan was reading a book he got for his birthday while he waited for his birthday blueberry pancakes. He is an avid reader. ;)
Of course, Ryan decided to take his first steps on his birthday, totaling 6 in a row! (We have yet to get back to that number yet.)
Within an hour of getting up to the cabin it started really coming down. It was beautiful! Luke and I played in the falling snow, walked around and enjoyed the quiet, and of course, got in some sledding.
The next morning we had a winter wonderland! Made us miss Colorado terribly!
Birthday boy waiting patiently for his first birthday cake!
Wondering what was going on...
Ryan figured since it was his cake, he could see what the frosting tasted like before blowing out the candles. I love this kid!
Not exactly sure what to do with it.
After an unsuccessful attempt at eating the big cake, we figured the cupcake was more his speed.
And, we were right!
Ryan, the birthday boy....tired after a very exciting day!
